I am sitting on the ledge of the hot tub, over looking the ocean and the beautiful islands of the San Juan's, namely Spieden, Jones and Stewart. They form the northern most boundary of the Continental United States and are just minutes from the Canadian Gulf Islands. Yesterday while doing property projects, I saw a pod of Orca's swim by, watched with interest the eagles, river otter, mink, deer, fox and walked the sandy beaches looking for beach glass. This is the place which brings total peace to my life. It is on a small island with about 50 other homes, mostly small cabins but only 5 minutes by boat from a large resort marina, grocery store, a few good restaurants, spa and many great hikes and other wildlife. When at this home, I can hike, kayak, fish, and go after crabs and shrimps when they are in season. It is my little slice of heaven in an otherwise busy life and I am able to access this place from the city by means of a float plane which I share with a few friends in less than an hour.

I share this as a way of saying that I love the outdoors, the nature, smells of salt air and water, the animals, the paths through the forests, the boating and my neighbors who are seeking the same days of serenity and calmness.

My main home is in the city and there I serve on Boards of Directors for businesses which are interesting to me, where I can be entrepreneurial, where I can integrate with city life and be with my large network of friends and my family. I love the city, have lived a very sophisticated life and yet I love the outdoors and it makes an enormous impact on me and my happiness. I was once a very public person in the work I performed but I have somewhat backed off that to enjoy life and am trying to be more of a laid back soul rather than the once type A that was reflective of my Capricorn being.
My partner and I will have great chemistry( which usually happens quickly if at all) and I will be proud of how she looks( sexy when appropriate) and how she feels along side of me, just as I will make her proud in the same ways. Most importantly, however, we will be kind to each other and kind to others and we will have our ego's checked at the door when it comes time to talk about ourselves. I think laughing is the essence of happiness and I desire a partner who is generally happy when she awakes and then steady during the day. A sense of humor is so important and I will admit that sometimes mine gets a little childish but friends say I am cute, so perhaps that all fits together.
I am an adventurous guy and I am looking for someone who has the time and interest in being adventurous with me. This is not to say that I am looking for someone who has no other interests than hanging with me. Quite the contrary, I think a partner is more interesting if they have their own passions, as do I, but being able to be flexible and capable of exploring the world is very important to me. Tied down by a full time job or big unending commitments is going to be an issue that may not be surmountable.

As I mentioned in the beginning, I love the outdoors and finding someone who shares the love of the outdoors is a needed attribute of someone with whom I would be in relationship. I like to walk, hike, bike( best way to see the world) boat, golf and travel and I am hoping that I can find someone who will share these activities with me. I also like to go to Husky football and basketball games( half of the fun is social) and it's also a good time to be with family who also like to go as well. I am equally comfortable and enjoy the arts, especially dance, music and theater.

I have a 7 year old Belgium Shephard named Bandit. He is my absolute best friend and he has provided love and calm for me over these past years when life was not so easy and was very trying in many ways. I am considering getting him a girl puppy companion and have to make that decision shortly as the pup is now four weeks old. I feel that with two dogs, the 7 year old will stay young longer and that the company for him with be great. Also when Bandit passes, then I will still have a dog to enjoy the outdoors and be in my life.

Family, friends, and being in a home with lots of love is also a priority. I have a great family and they are of critical importance and support for me. They are loving, accepting and hoping that I find a wonderful partner. I like to entertain, whether it is in the city or on the island, and while I am not a terrific cook, I can find my way around a bit, can be a good sous chef and I know of a few good cooks who come help out when what is needed is beyond my range.

I am a sensual and touchy guy with a quite fully developed sense of self and female side. I like to express feelings, talk about them and I have been told I am a good listener. I like to talk things out rather than let them fester but I do this and I would hope that my partner can do this in a kind and loving way. I don't always have to be right and I find it distasteful when someone has to be right about everything.

It would be a bonus if you have some business experience as I love business, am entrepreneurial and I enjoy the discussions that always seem to come from this part of life. But I also respect and enjoy someone who is creative in an artsy way, whatever that is, and I attribute my better than average sense of taste to women who have introduced me to some of the finer things in life.

Here are a few other things I would like to conclude with. I am Jewish, don't really practice but fully respect my heritage, enjoy celebrating the holidays and have many Jewish friends. The Jewish way of life is very family oriented, warm, nurturing and accepting of the beliefs of others and my two girls, both of whom are married( two grandkids) also practice their Judaism.
What one hopes for is that a partner loves their partner for who they are, celebrates this and brings the best out in them. I hope to do the same for whomever I might be in relationship with as well: respect their values (assumed to be very similar and probably required), love them for who they are, accept their shortcomings and appreciate that we all have a place on the planet which we call home.

I am a healthy eater, don't drink very much, appreciate fitness and I can't put up with smoke. I would not do well with any ultra religious individuals, young children at home who reduce flexibility to be adventurous, is high strung or have deep child of origin issues.

Family legend has it that when my grandparents asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up, my ten year old response was, “A tourist”. Peals of LOL… “Yes, dear, you do that”….. Pass that marmalade, please, Bernice.

Actually, I wasn’t kidding and have held fast to that declaration.

In a broad sense, we are all tourists of the universe, my own translation reflected in eclectic career choices, fits of adventure, an impulse to nose around every corner, keep daydreams going and reserve one for the “right moment”.

I am a duality of nearly all things, impulsive yet thoughtful, smart here/ inept there, playful, but deeply serious, make “to do” list / lose “to do” list, and a vegetarian that “Brakes for BBQ”.

Dance, hike, ride or ski with me; I’m fit and ready….. Got the boots, got the dress. I have commercial fished in Alaska, summit climbed Mt. Rainier, cycled the STP, shot trap and skeet, and am a budding equestrian. This Thanksgiving I even caved to an invitation to Tequila shots with my 21 yr old son …..but, we’ll keep that between us.

I am a true romantic and passionate about my woman and my dreams. I used to think the dreams and aspirations of ambitious men were above the woman (that they wanted), but I guess over the years, I've grown up. I really believe that the woman is above the dreams. One of my favorite lines in a movie comes from Rocky IV, it's where Adriene says to Rocky to not fight the Russian, she thinks he simply cannot win. Rocky responds by saying this (from my memory)--"Maybe I can't win, maybe all i can do is stand there and take everything he's got. But to beat me, to beat me, he's going to have to kill me, and to do that, he's got to be willing to die himself."

I love that underdog mentality, that "never say die fortitude." If I had to describe myself, I'd say I was Rocky Balboa with a briefcase meets George Bailey (It's a Wonderful LIfe)---I've lived in the Plaza Hotel for months, dined in the best restaurants in the world, made tens of millions of dollars, and subsequently lost many many millions, pulled weeds in a swamp, moved watermelon in the back of a semi; I've truly tasted both worlds, the disparity of both extremes. Perhaps that diverse background has helped mold me into the person that I am. I am comfortable talking and engaging with a waiter and equally comfortable talking with a billionaire.

I've been engaging with surfers on the beach (whoa, man, like tweaking, dude..) and had the best of times, also had great parties with the muckity mucks of Aspen, met literal Princes, (Yes, your Highness, so sorry I did not understand the question, Your Highness...)etc etc. My story is defintely not boring and the woman with me cannot be about the stuff, or even about the promise of stuff. I want someone real. She will know there will be great times where we live in the Plaza and travel the world. But there may be times when we have to eat off our Chevron card, and she will be fine with that. She will be genuinely loved, and you cannot put a price tag on that, in my opinion.

Since I was such a jerk when I was young with the ladies, because I lost my mom, I don't think I could commit, I really have turned it around. I'm not saying I'm a doormat with anyone, but i am saying that I put my woman before myself, in virtually every way, from who gets fed first, to all the little things to intimacy issues and more. When you do that, and I mean when you really mean it from the heart, your mate will know it, and the only response they can have is to love you for it. Kinda cool how that works.

My whole life, I never really cooked, I was always the restaurant guy. But I've gotten into cooking and I love everything organic, big into salads, love homemade cookies with almond milk, maybe combine that with a raging fire and a great movie and a very passionate evening----sounds wonderful to me.

I have to add that intimacy is important to me, not with women casually; that was me 20 years ago, but with the one woman I am with, with the one that I have grown to love. I believe that both people should have high libidos together or low together but they should be on the same page there. My libido is actually getting stronger as I get older, go figure, must be all the greens and fish oil I take. I exercise so much that I feel I'm in as good as shape as any 20 year old skier, gym rat/hiker guy, so maybe that all plays a part too.

I'm also corny, I mean real corny, but hey, that's me. For example, I had these guys all fly in to look at land we were going to purchase and develop to make a golf course. At the conclusion of the day, we were looking at the land by horseback and heading back to the main trailer. One guy was a big shot from Beverly Hills who had never ridden a horse; I wasn't much better. As the four of us were within sight of the trailer, I suggested we head back in unison, pick up the pace and gallop, all singing the bonanza theme song from the show, you know, a real macho way to end the whole day, except that while we headed into the gallop, my horse got spooked and...you'll just have to meet me to get the rest of the story---but it was a "City Slickers" moment to be sure. Fortunately, i'm okay.
I love to travel and my mate will like that too, to places like Maui, Carribbean, Europe..I'd love to spend a month just biking all over Europe and staying in cool castles, bed and breakfasts (told you, there's those extremes again) and such. I also would like her to be active while we travel. Sitting around the pool sipping margaritas is not the way I envision our vacation day.

Here is a sampling of a typical vacation day with my mate---
we get up maybe at 7am, make love until 8am and shower and go to breakfast (either at the hotel or someplace near).

after that, maybe we are snorkeling or hiking a volcano or exploring great waterfalls and great beaches-

maybe around 1ish, we're grabbing a great lunch, fish tacos or grouper sandwich or just organic greens with a shake and some great cookies--love great cookies, did I mention that yet?

more hiking, or swimming or exploring and maybe back to the hotel by 5ish for some rest by the beach or a stroll along the ocean

dinner by 6:30-7ish and after dinner, whenever that is over, a show or a great club listening to great music or a great comedian,--or just watch the beautiful sunset and stare at the ocean--- make love at the hotel at night, and do it all over again the next day---

OR, just be spontaneous completely and figure it out as we go along...it doesn't have to be a set agenda ever. But, I wanted you to know that it is engaging, not just sunbathing and margaritaville.

Finally, Sophia has asked me to list three things that are of the most importance to me----three things that I cannot live without as she puts it.

Life is soooooo precious. People are so precious. Use things, love people, most people use people and love things. I want my mate to be able to easily discern the difference and want to be a "light" in this crazy world we live in.

Life is good, and I have been incredibly fortunate to somehow find myself in Seattle. I am very loving, caring and giving with the people that I love and busy being a mother. It is fun for me to participate in some of my son's sport activity, like basketball, baseball, golf and other fun activities. It is one of my favorite thing to do. I like simple things and I try to avoid complication and kip it simple. I don't like pressure and stress and that is why I don't pile up too much and get too much going on. I love the open space and beautiful view of mountain. Hope to have that near me one day. I also like to eat healthy and exercise and keep thing natural as much as possible.
